Nuxe Reve de Miel Lip Balm and embalming fluid

The Nuxe Reve de Miel Lip Balm is one of the most popular lip balms around at the moment. I used it for while and loved it . . . until I happened to look at the ingredients list:

CERA ALBA/BEESWAX, OLUS OIL/VEGETABLE OIL, LECITHIN, BEHENOXY DIMETHICONE, PRUNUS AMYGDALUS DULCIS (SWEET ALMOND) OIL, BUTYROSPERMUM PARKII (SHEA BUTTER) EXTRACT, MEL /HONEY, BUTYROSPERMUM PARKII (SHEA BUTTER), DIMETHICONE, ETHYLHEXYL METHOXYCINNAMATE, CITRUS GRANDIS (GRAPEFRUIT) PEEL OIL, CAPRYLIC/CAPRIC TRIGLYCERIDE, HYDROGENATED VEGETABLE OIL, GLYCINE SOJA (SOYBEAN) OIL, ROSA MOSCHATA SEED OIL, TOCOPHERYL ACETATE, TOCOPHEROL, CITRUS MEDICA LIMONUM (LEMON) PEEL OIL, CANDELILLA CERA/EUPHORBIA CERIFERA (CANDELILLA) WAX, ALLANTOIN, CALENDULA OFFICINALIS FLOWER EXTRACT, BHT, CITRIC ACID, CITRAL, LIMONENE, LINALOOL

Nearly all of these ingredients are great for your lips. The problem I have is with BHT – a dangerous chemical also found in embalming fluid and jet fuel. This chemical is deeply implicated in neurotoxicity and developmental toxicity. It’s really disappointing as apart from this one ingredient, I really love this lip balm – but this ingredient is really something you don’t want to be ingesting. I emailed Nuxe customer services about this who said they would pass my comment on to the relevant department but no one has since replied to me.

The alternative I have since found for a comparable nourishing lip balm is the Lanolips brand which uses natural Lanolin to really soften and protect your lips. I really like the Lanolips 101 Ointment, the Lemonaid and their coloured lip ointment (Boots & Waitrose).
